Dance ‘til you drop is a book I designed for a competition set by the ISTD. It is based on the dance marathon fads that happened in America between 1920 and 1930 where people would compete, dancing non stop for long periods of time to try and win cash prizes. I researched the topic, wrote the content and gathered all the photos which I then collated into an informative and stylised typographic book.
The display font used in the publication is Franklin Gothic as it is a well known American typeface from the era that the dance marathons took place which helped bring more authenticity to the design. The colour blue was chosen as it has evolved to have connotations with depression in American culture so reflected the struggles the marathon contestants faced.
This piece of work won an award given by the International Society of Typographic Designers.
